There is a profound beauty when two authentic Italian brands come together to share a single, uncompromising vision of excellence. We were recently honoured to partner with Stellantis for the FIAT Micromobility activation at SA Auto Week, hosted in the vibrant coastal city of Durban.

FIAT showcased how their fully electric, three-wheeled commercial vehicle can be used to meet the growing demand for last-mile delivery and mobile business solutions in Africa by creating a mobile coffee kiosk with premier coffee brands illy, an Italian coffee producer and La Marzocco, the Italian manufacturer of professional
espresso machines.
To demonstrate how the vehicle can be adapted around a real commercial application, a FIAT Tris coffee kiosk was displayed and used a fully functional coffee shop during naamsa’s industry flagship conference, SA Autoweek, which took place 13 to 16 October 2026 in Durban. The vehicle has been designed with small busines owner and traders in mind, delivering accessible and affordable mobility solution designed to help people move, trade and create income-generating opportunities.
The FIAT Tris has been designed with a range of up to 90km and a payload capacity of more than 500kg, TRIS combines compact dimensions with practical loadcarrying capability. Its design prioritises ease of use, with no clutch or gearbox, while an integrated charging system and built-in 220V plug allow it to be charged from a
standard power supply without the need for an external charger.
“Rather than simply displaying TRIS and asking businesses to imagine what it could become, the conversion demonstrated the vehicle as an operating business in its own right, a practical example of how mobility and entrepreneurship can intersect,” says Kabelo Rabotho, Director for Micromobility for Stellantis SA & Sub-Saharan Africa.
A coffee kiosk however is only but one possibility. TRIS can be adapted for cargo and last-mile delivery, mobile retail, food services and other specialised commercial applications. Available in chassis-cabin, flatbed and pick-up configurations, it provides businesses with the flexibility to configure the vehicle around the work it
needs to perform.
This reflects a broader shift in how FIAT sees commercial micromobility developing. Instead of expecting a business to adapt its operations around a vehicle, the starting point can increasingly be the business need measured against the most efficient and cost-effective mobility solution for that job.
The arrival of TRIS therefore extends beyond the introduction of another vehicle to the South African market. It provides a practical example of how right-sized mobility can unlock economic value by giving businesses another way to move products, deliver services and reach customers.
Designed specifically for micro transportation, TRIS combines Italian design, affordability and versatility into an easy-to-use, zero-emissions commercial mobility solution.

For illy, coffee is more than a simple refreshment; it is an experience deeply rooted in art, beauty, and sustainable goodness. This partnership provided a wonderful opportunity to bring our uncompromising 100% Arabica beans on the road, seamlessly pairing the ingenuity of Italian micromobility design with the rich, inviting warmth of a beautifully crafted espresso.
It was a privilege to offer attendees a moment of quiet excellence amidst a bustling event, proving that whether you are exploring the latest in automotive design or simply taking a mindful pause in your day, an authentic Italian coffee experience is never far away.
